In Your Library
IT / Computing Facilities
We provide free access to computers and the Internet. Use of the service is open to all library members and to visitors. To book a session, phone your local library. Visitors may only book a session when using the library. Click libraries for details of opening hours. Free WiFi is now also available in all libraries. Please ask a member of staff.
Libraries offer the following from every computer:
- Windows 7 Professional (32-Bit) Operating System
- Internet (with a choice of 3 Web Browsers: Internet Explorer; Google Chrome & Mozilla Firefox)
- MS Word for word processing
- MS Excel for spreadsheets
- MS PowerPoint for presentations
- MS Access for databases
- MS Publisher for creating brochures, leaflets, and flyers
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Paint.Net
- Microsoft Media Player
- Real Player
- Trend Micro Scan Anti Virus
- Shortcuts to our online resources
- Access from the desktop to our library catalogue and to future computer bookings
At least one computer in each library will also provide access to the following:
- Read & Write Gold Mobile Accessibility Software (which is accessed from a USB Pen Drive)
- Dolphin SuperNova Magnifier Accessibility Software (which is accessed from a USB Pen Drive and available at our 4 main libraries: Abergavenny, Caldicot, Chepstow & Monmouth)
Other IT facilities provided in every library:
- Black and white printing
- Colour printing
- Scanning
- USB Pen Drives are sold from the library Issue Desks
